Oberthausen-Karl Mayer has introduced a number of improvements in spare parts service, including the development of new hole protectors and new systems to reduce re-setup times when loading grinding guide rods.
The Oberzhausen-based company stated that it not only continuously improves its machines but also meticulously develops solutions that simplify and increase their efficiency. Furthermore, the company is constantly expanding its range of spare parts available through its online store.
One of the newest tools is the needle bar guard, which, despite its small size, offers powerful functionality. It automatically deploys when the working width deviates from the machine’s width. The guard is a flat, U-shaped, cap-like device that fits over the needle-free portion of the needle bar, securing it to the needle bar cap, thereby protecting the enclosed portion from damage and contamination.
This practical protective cover also helps maintain the dimensional stability of welding electrodes. The cover is one inch wide and made of lightweight plastic with a rough, easy-to-grip surface. Currently, it is only available for certain HKS models; versions for other series will be released later. You can order it directly from the spare parts section of the Karl Mayer online store or use the QR code ordering feature in the k.maintenance app.
Another recent development aims to reduce changeover time while minimizing material waste when loading the knitting machine warp guide bar.
For faster replacement, a 2-inch guide pin is used instead of a 1-inch guide pin. This assembly can be split in half using a 1-inch segment. If a guide pin fails, there’s no need to replace the entire assembly, as with a standard 2-inch guide pin. Simply separate the 1-inch segment from the damaged area and replace it separately.
This practical 2-inch plastic guide unit with a precise 1-inch segment design was first introduced at the ITMA trade show in Barcelona in 2019. Since then, it has generated significant interest from customers worldwide. Many machines are already equipped with this new 2-inch guide unit, and a series of machines featuring it are planned for delivery in the near future.
Additionally, plans are underway to expand the range of grinding fineness specifications. The segmented 2-inch guide block fits certain guide pin types in sizes E 18 to E 36.
Karl Mayer has also made spare parts more accessible to users through its online shop at its headquarters and expanded its range of spare parts for warp knitting machines – more than 6,000 parts can now be ordered directly via the digital order portal.
The expanded range also includes specialized accessories for the RACOP and COPCENTRA series machines. The latest online store update adds product categories to simplify catalog browsing. For example, the “Knitting Components” section now includes new categories: “Tools,” “Knitting Components,” and “Threading Combs/Yarn Splitting Combs.” The “Machine Parts” section has also been expanded to include bearings, springs, crank seats, levers, and screws/nuts/washers.
